Mary Ellen Towne is the Director and classroom teacher in the Early Childhood Center. She is permanently certified in K-12 Special Education and N-6 Elementary Education. In her thirteenth year with the ECC, she is currently teaching the three-year old class.

In addition to her Director and Teaching responsibilities, Mary Ellen mentors 40-50 college students a semester, overseeing work study, class placement, research, student teaching, and volunteer opportunities. She is also active in professional organizations including the National Association for Education of Young Children and the Council of Child Development Laboratory Administrators.

Mary Ellen is involved in the Saratoga Springs City School District as a community educator, committee volunteer and involved parent. Mary Ellen earned an Associate in Applied Science in Early Education from SUNY Cobleskill, a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from SUNY Geneseo, and a Master of Science Degree in Special Education from SUNY Albany. She has had wide experience educating young children since 1982, teaching nursery school, pre-school education, and kindergarten. She served as Director and head teacher at Marist College Pre-School.
