Palamountain scholar Liz Bracht ’24 delivers remarks during the 45th Palamountain Benefit

Members of the Skidmore and local communities gathered to support scholarships and honor Liz Bracht ’24 during the 45th Palamountain Benefit.

Jeffrey O. Segrave, professor of health and human physiological sciences, is an Olympic Games expert and recently shared his reflections on the 2024 Paris Games, the history of the Olympics, and human athleticism. In this special three-part edition of Creative Thought, Current Matters, he discusses the history of Olympic swimming events in the Seine, athlete gender balance and the Paralympic Games, and the evolution of athleticism.

Employee vehicle registration 

‌Vehicle registration is open for employees. If your vehicle is already registered with a current decal, there is no need to register again. Register online by visiting the parking portal website, clicking the permit icon, and inputting your vehicle information. Add to cart and click the shopping cart icon to checkout. Contact Campus Safety at ext. 5567 or by email with any questions. 

‌Residential Life early arrival requests due Aug. 7 ‌

‌Departments sponsoring students (athletes, peer mentors, student workers, and others) for early arrival housing for the fall term should send requests to Residential Life by Aug. 7. Please include a list of sponsored students with student ID and anticipated arrival date. Students requesting an early arrival must have a fall 2024 on-campus housing assignment. 

‌New web ticket system from Office of Communications and Marketing

Beginning today, Wednesday, July 31, all requests for OCM web assistance, training, troubleshooting, and Yodeck digital signage must be submitted through its new ticketing system for website support, TeamDynamix, which will be available through Okta via the “OCM Web Tickets” tile. OCM will no longer accept requests submitted by email. TeamDynamix is the same tool used by Information Technology (IT), so we hope community members find it familiar and easy to navigate. Please note, however, that the systems are distinct: Requests for support from IT (for technology or computer support, printer services, etc.) should continue to be submitted to the IT Helpdesk. Requests to update the Course Catalog should be directed to the Registrar

‌Intergroup Relations workshop 

‌Intergroup Relations, a program that explores dialogue within a social justice context, invites faculty and staff to participate in a Zoom workshop from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Aug 26 and 27, with Monita Thompson and Charles Behling of the University of Michigan. Space is limited. Contact Lisa Grady-Willis with questions.

Idea Lab course reservations ‌ 

‌The Schupf Family IdeaLab is now accepting requests for classes wishing to reserve the IdeaLab in the fall. Contact Darren Prodger with questions. The IdeaLab's summer hours are 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Monday through Friday, in room 101 of the Billie Tisch Center for Integrated Sciences. 

‌Dining Services summer hours ‌

‌The Spa is open daily from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. A breakfast menu is available from 8 to 11 a.m.; hot soup and a deli menu are available from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Grab-and-go items are sold in Burgess Café. More information about Dining Services' hours of operation is available on the Dining Services website. ‌ ‌ ‌‌ 

‌Pop-up grill

‌Dining Services offers a pop-up grill on Porter Plaza, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Monday through Friday. The grill menu features hotdogs, burgers (both beef and plant-based), and grilled chicken sandwiches. A combo meal includes your choice of a grill item, two sides, and a beverage for $7.99. In the case of rain, the pop-up grill will be relocated to inside The Spa.

‌‌Summer Bulletin publication schedule

‌Through Aug. 21, the Bulletin will be distributed to faculty and staff only. Submit announcements and events by completing the online form. The deadline for all submissions is noon on Monday. Submissions to the Faculty-Staff Achievements section are not accepted over the summer. Please email swb@sipinglq.com if you have questions. 

‌Employee appreciation sale 

‌The Skidmore Shop will be hosting its annual employee appreciation sale with 35% off all items (except technology, textbooks, and health and beauty) between 8:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 15. Skidmore ID cards are required at checkout.
