'Dream the world you want to see'

With charges to use the lessons of a liberal arts education to make positive change in the world, Skidmore College conferred 634 degrees to the Class of 2023 during the College’s 112th Commencement Exercises at SPAC on Saturday, May 20.

A recording of the virtual State-of-the-College Finances and Compensation Presentation led by President Marc Conner on Tuesday, May 23, is available online. In the presentation, President Conner, Interim Vice President of Finance and Administration and Treasurer Charles Ingram, Vice President and Dean of Admissions and Financial Aid Mary Lou Bates, Collyer Vice President for Advancement Carey Anne Zucca, Human Resources Strategic Advisor, Sarah Vero, and Dean of the Faculty and Vice President for Academic Affairs Michael Orr provide information about the budget for fiscal year 2024 as approved by the Board of Trustees; a summary of the budget for the current fiscal year; next year’s general salary adjustment (GSA); and other key elements of the College’s financial status and outlook. Summer Bulletin publication schedule

From May 31 through Aug. 23, the Bulletin will be published biweekly and distributed to faculty and staff only. It will also be posted online. Submissions to the Faculty-Staff Achievements section will not be accepted over the summer and will be accepted again in the fall. Biweekly issues of the Bulletin will be published May 31; June 14 and 28; July 12 and 26; and Aug. 9 and 23. SWB will resume weekly publication on Aug. 30. Submit announcements and events by completing the online form. The deadline for all submissions is noon on Monday. Please email swb@sipinglq.com if you have questions.

Announcements

Campus credit union summer hours 

Effective May 22, the branch hours for the campus branch of Broadview FCU (formerly SEFCU) are 9 a.m. to noon Monday through Friday. Normal hours will resume in August.

 

New IT Help Ticket System- Team Dynamix

In the next month, Skidmore IT will be switching to a new help ticket system, Team DynamixIn addition to streamlining IT request submissions, it will have a new Knowledge base section with a wider variety of answers to common Skidmore IT-related questions. Once live, the new system can be accessed by navigating to help.sipinglq.com or by selecting the TDX Client Porta” tile in Okta.

 

Fiscal Year-End Reminders from Financial Services  

Please review these detailed guidelines ahead of the close of the fiscal year on May 31. You are encouraged to submit expense reimbursements, invoices for payment, and related items in advance of the deadlines. As a reminder, all transactions are handled through Oracle Cloud.

 

Opportunity Program 50th Anniversary  

Programming and gatherings will take place throughout Reunion Weekend, June 2-4. Help welcome OP alumni back to Skidmore at a faculty and staff welcome reception at 4:30 p.m. Friday, June 2, at the Frederick Allen Lodge on Beekman Street. Register by May 26. UndocUEquity training 

The Dean of Students Office and Admissions/Financial Aid are offering a program that will provide an overview on how to support undocumented students (those with and without DACA) from 9 a.m. to noon on Thursday, June 15. The training will focus on how to foster an environment in which these students feel seen and supported. Please email studentaffairs@sipinglq.com to register. The registration deadline is noon on Tuesday, May 30. Lunch is included.

 

McCaffery-Wagman construction updates   

Drilling and blasting will be conducted beginning Monday, May 22, and continue intermittently throughout the summer for the McCaffery-Wagman Tennis and Wellness Center. Due to construction, the main sidewalk to the Williamson Sports Center will be closed until mid-August. A temporary entrance is located on the west side of the building. For more information, contact Facilities Services.

Skidmore Shop closed for inventory  

The Skidmore Shop will be closed for inventory Monday, May 22, through Thursday, May 25. Should you need anything during this time, please place an online order for pickup on Friday, May 26.
